Water Resources Minister and district in charge Basavaraj Bommai has said the Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat had released Rs. 8.27 crore for 220 drinking water schemes in the 13th Plan.
Of this, the zilla panchayat will get Rs 1.18 crore, gram panchayats Rs. 4 crore and taluk panchayats Rs. 2.3 crore, Mr. Bommai said during the Karnataka Development Programme review meeting here on Wednesday.
He said that all panchayats should approve action plans by April 15. He lamented that 13 of the 90 works approved last year under the Calamity Relief Fund were yet to be completed. He asked officials to complete the works immediately.
He asked Gescom officials to provide power supply for drinking water schemes on priority. Mr. Bommai directed officials to provide water to villages on the banks of the Bheema by drawing water from the river. He promised to release funds for the project.
He asked ZP officials to release money to the taluk-level drinking water task force.
Mr. Bommai also asked panchayat development officers to pay surprise visits to sites where work on drinking water supply schemes was under way.
