Now, get approval online for construction in Gulbarga

GULBARGA: Getting permission for construction within Gulbarga City Corporation limits will be less cumbersome in future with the corporation making arrangements to get online permission for construction of residential and commercial structures.
Commissioner of the corporation Manoj Jain said here on Tuesday that the software to provide online permission, in accordance with the new zonal regulations of the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) of Gulbarga city, is being installed.
The new software would detect violations of building construction norms and would reject any such proposal. Mr. Jain told The Hindu that the corporation had held a series of discussions with architects and civil engineers involved in construction activities in the district regarding the introduction of the online registration and permission for new buildings.
He said the response from them had been “very good” and almost all of them agreed to register their names in the city corporation to get online permission. “The architects and civil engineers would have to pay a nominal amount as registration fee, after which they would be provided with a terminal and a Unique Identification Number through which they can submit their proposals and get permission online for construction activities,” he said.
“The new initiative will reduce manual work for contractors or engineers visiting the corporation offices to get the building permission…this would also put an effective end to complaints of corruption,” Mr. Jain explained. Engineers and contractors, he said, would be held responsible for any violation till the plinth-level of residential buildings and for all violations till the completion of multi-storeyed buildings and commercial complexes.
He said the corporation had also undertaken a massive digitisation of all the property registers. The Geographical Information System (GIS) was being fully used for the purpose of conducting survey of properties in all the 55 wards in the city.
